What Happened To Ben Field?
Ben Field, a British man, initially appeared to be a charming and religious young man who gave sermons in his father’s Baptist church. However, beneath this facade, he harboured dark intentions.
Ben Field was convicted of the murder of author Peter Farquhar, a man around 40 years older than him, in August 2019. This chilling case unfolded in the small town of Onley, Buckinghamshire.
Ben Field and Peter Farquhar first crossed paths in 2011 when Field was pursuing his PhD studies. During that time, Peter worked as a school teacher and also served as a part-time lecturer at the University of Buckingham.

In a sinister turn of events, Field drugged Farquhar and made him believe he was losing his sanity. He manipulated Farquhar into changing his will to make Field a beneficiary to gain the inheritance.
After Farquhar did not take his own life as Field had anticipated, Field turned to murder in 2015. Ben Field used a pillow to smother Peter Farquhar and then meticulously staged the scene to give the appearance of a death resulting from excessive drinking.
The plan initially succeeded, and Field inherited a significant sum of money and half of Farquhar’s home.
Nevertheless, Ben Field had also started to manipulate Ann Moore-Martin, who was 50 years older than him and resided in close proximity. Field sought to be included in her will and was suspected of planning her murder as well.
Field’s deception unravelled when Moore-Martin’s niece became suspicious of his intentions and informed the police. This led to a thorough investigation into Field, eventually connecting him to Farquhar’s death.
During the investigation, Moore-Martin realized she was being scammed by Field and severed all ties with him. In May 2017, she passed away due to natural causes.
In January 2018, Ben Field was arrested and charged with murder and fraud. In August 2019, he was found guilty of Farquhar’s murder and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 36 years.
Despite appealing the conviction twice, Field’s guilt remained evident, leaving a trail of devastation and a heinous crime that shocked the community.
Where is Ben Field Now?
As of 2023, Ben Field, the convicted murderer and former churchwarden from Olney, Buckinghamshire, is serving his sentence at an undisclosed prison in the UK.
In 2019, Ben Field was convicted of the murder of Peter Farquhar and the perpetration of fraud against Ann Moore-Martin. As a result of these heinous crimes, he received a life sentence in prison with a minimum term of 36 years. Field appealed his sentence twice but lost on both occasions.
In court, Ben Field openly confessed to having a disturbing fascination with the extremes of death and the concept of taking someone’s life.
According to the evaluation of two psychiatrists, it was suggested that Ben Field might be experiencing either a narcissistic personality disorder or a psychopathic personality disorder.

The sentencing judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, highlighted Field’s extensive deception and deceit, describing him as a well-practised and able liar.
He also mentioned that Field had very little understanding of his own inner world, leading him to deceive and harm others.
The court learned that Field kept notes and journals about his sinister plans, deriving pleasure from his malevolent actions.
With his parole eligibility set for 2055, Ben Field remains incarcerated, serving a lengthy sentence for his heinous crimes.
Despite his attempts to overturn the conviction in 2019 and 2021, justice has prevailed, and he continues to pay for his actions behind bars.
How did they catch Ben Field?
The capture of Ben Field began when Ann Moore-Martin, who had been admitted to the hospital after a seizure, raised suspicions about him to her niece.
Having doubts about Field’s intentions, her niece informed the police, suspecting that he was abusing Moore-Martin.
Following this, a full-fledged investigation into Field and his potential involvement in Peter Farquhar’s death was initiated by the authorities.
The investigation involved taking hundreds of statements, and even Farquhar’s body was exhumed as part of the process.
As the investigation progressed, Moore-Martin became aware of Field’s deceitful actions and decided to sever all contact with him.
In May 2017, she peacefully passed away due to natural causes. Subsequently, in 2018, Ben Field was apprehended and charged with murder and fraud, leading to his eventual conviction.
