On June 4, 2023, a devastating incident occurred involving a jet that departed from Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Elizabethton, Tennessee, destined for Long Island MacArthur Airport.

The plane then began descending at an alarming rate, plummeting more than 30,000 feet per minute. The tragic journey ended when the Cessna crashed into a rural area of the Shenandoah Valley.
At around 3:20 p.m., the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) intercepted the jet only to find the pilot unresponsive. Despite their best efforts, the Cessna crashed near the George Washington National Forest.
The crash claimed the lives of all four individuals on board, including the pilot, the family’s nanny, and two passengers, Adina Azarian and her two-year-old daughter.
